Anyone use 02 Broadband???

I currently use BT broadband and am really happy with it. However, whilst BT works out around £20 02 can do me a better service for £7.50.

Does anyone use 02, is their service good? Are they a reliable provider?

So far I have suffered only one afternoons downtime with BT.

I switched to o2 about 3 moths ago. Change over went smothly and I've not had any down time so far. I've got the basic "up to 8 meg" package and I average about 4.5 meg.
Not a heavy net user so I wouldn't base your decision solely on my experience but so far so good for me.

I have been with BT for ages, and can't fault them. When I have had problems, they have been resolved quickly.

I can't fault BT at all. Service has been good its just that since I have an 02contract their deal is going to be a lot cheaper.

If its wasn't for the 02 contract the prices would be so similar that I wouldn't bother changing.

I have had no end of problems with BT. When we moved house they would not connect the new house for 3 weeks (yes three weeks). I then had to register as a new customer and sign up for a 1 year contract so that I could retain some (not all) of my family's email addresses - hmm who is to lose their email address?

We are now at the end of the contract and have handed our notice in - big mistake. I should have asked for the MAC code before telling them I was off then I could have handed that over to the new ISP. As the "stop" notice is now on the account they will not issue a MAC code and so I will be without any internet for at least 1 week and possibly 2. Would I recommend BT to anyone - hard one that. Of course they didn't tell me that within the 5 days that they are meant to I had to phone up.

BT are incredibly expensive and their customer service can (not always I accept) can be attrocious. From the technology side they are good but they seem to think that people who leave may be influenced to say by being PITA.

Rant over.

I am currently looking for a new ISP and will probably be going for Plus Net but I am still looking at other options.

Good luck with your move away from BT and don't forget to request the MAC code asap (this is something they will provide free and it lasts for 30 days) so even if you don't go it is still worth requesting so that you have it.

I have used eclipse for 4 years now. more than happy, not the cheapest but it works and on the two occasions I have had problems in that time they have been resolved pretty much instantly, Oh I have a referrer code as well which earns me hard cash if you go with them (hint hint)
