Sourcing some Custom Rechargable Batteries

Having flooded a strobe unit in NDAC last week, I was a little pissed off, especially as there didn't seem to be a valid reason for the flood. To makes things worse, I had bought a new NiMH battery pack for the SS-200 for £100 from Cameras Underwater.

Having worked out (not difficult!) that the unit was buggered and being sent back to CU for some servicing, I thought I would take the battery pack apart to see what the battery pack consisted of. I just can't work out why this battery pack is worth £100

So, can anyone help me source 6 batteries which have the following requirements.

7.2v, 3000mAh, length 48mm, diameter 25mm.

Once I have them, I can get a friendly electronics geezer to put it together

Still can't work out why they should cost £100 though

Thanks

Son, you're going to have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming aircrew. You can't do both.

The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits.

Hi Gareth,
Try these people.

They worked wonders & rebuilt a battery pack for my Beaver torch, they also increased the burn time by using larger Ah batteries

Would second this. The pack looks like 6 x 'C' cells at 1.2v each = 7.2v. Strikalite were doing 4ah NiMh 'C' cells at a good price years ago.

Basic economic theory. If demand and supply were different, then they would be about a fiver. The manufacturer has a captive market, and can charge what people are prepared to pay,not what they are worth in terms of cost to manufacture and distribute.

Nope, they are 7.2v each not between them. The dimensions aren't the same as a C-cell either as I have matched them. C-cells are a little wider than the ceels I have.

Just had a reply back from Cellpack Solutions and they would do 6 for £24 + VAT!!

Going to see what Strikalite and the others quote me but looks much better than Ikelite want!!

6*7.2= 43.2 Volts odd value
6*1.2=7.2 volts sounds more suitable

C4500HJ 4500 25.5 49.5 might be useful :-)
