If the laptop works with a plug in keyboard, then it's just your keyboard that is mullered. They're relatively easy to replace, but can be quiet expensive.

I managed to clean up an old hot-chocolate filled laptop:

If you can remove the old keyboard you should be able to soak the keyboard in plain old water. Then leave it to dry for a loooong time (A laptop keyboard tends to be made up of several layers of plastic film, bits of metal and thicker plastic, so it takes ages for it all to dry out).

Then put it all back together (the difficult bit) and try again.

It's worked for me!

Where do you get de-ionised water?

and can I use it with a plug in keyboard whilst the other one is drying out after taking it out to rinse it?

I got it from the petrol station. It's used in car batteries (and some people use it in irons too)

I used to buy it from Tescos - it's used in steam irons to stop build up of canker.

Chris

PS Does anyone remember when Tescos wasn't the only shop? They'll be changing their name to GUM soon
