| Screen help similar to DingDangDoo's!!! Sorry to be a pain, but need some bright spark to help me out. I'm no computer whizz, but I can play around and am happy to do so, however this one's got me stumped! A very good friend has just give me a flat screen. It's an NEC MultiSync LCD 1830. I've plugged it in, connected it and it's up and running. However it's got lots of "shadows. Mainly writing, but also some pictures. Bit like ghost images next to each item/line on the screen. Don't tell me to RTFM cos I wasn't given one!!!! I googled it and came up with this website (plus loads others) http://www.planethire.org.uk/compone...c_view/gid,10/ It says the screen resolution should be 1280X1024 so I've changed that. It also give me hertz (??) options of 60, 70 & 72. I've left it as 60 cos have NO idea what this means!!!! I thought Hertz was a car hire place!?! ![]() I've also downloaded the driver for it and swapped it over, which lets me move the screen around so that's cured one of the problems I had, but it's this ghosting/shadowing that's causing me a little eye strain. Is this "ghosting" part of the quirks of this sort of monitor or is there a way round it to make the screen crystal clear? Any sensible comments would be appreciated. Though please remember, Oh IT lords, that I am just a "stupid bloody user"!!!!! ![]() Thanks muchly!

| Manual is here: http://www.necdisplay.com/cms/docume...830_manual.pdf 1280x1024 at 60Hz is fine Is the plug fully home? Are there "ghosts" when you switch off the screen? Last edited by Scuttler : 29-12-07 at 06:12 PM. |

| I'd be tempted to reset the LCD to Factory Default settings then go into windows and check the display driver and graphics card drivers are ok (no conflicts). Then it's simply a matter of adjusting resolution and refresh rates until it works.......try changing the refresh rate (60 Hz) to one of the other supported rates. |

| Cheers Ian! I'll have a play! Done the factory reset and played around, but still there. It's not unbearable, just irritating! I'll have a mooch around later. Tried to green ya, but I need to spread it around a bit more first!
