New Mobile Time

Im hoping someone can help me as it is time to start thinking about a new handset as my contract with orange gives up next month and I think I am going to move to O2 as they get better reception where I am living now.

But I have got no clue about what sort of handset I want, I currently use the SPV C600 wo it is a windows smart phone and I have much prefered it over the N70 I had before.

So can anyone recommend a handset? I would want to be able to run TomTom on it and prefer 3g, but aside from that Im not too fussed about it being an mp3 player or a camera (though nice if you can get it all in one)
Oh and it has to be able to make calls and not need charging up everynight, I really hate that.

Cheers all

I have been on an O2 contract for ages, and have no problem with them.

However, when my contract came up for renewal, and i fancied a new phone, i was persuaded by the O2 shop person to take the Nokia N95. I have had it for 3 months, and it is the crappiest phone i have ever had. It switches itself off when it feels like it, it refuses to send texts for no apparent reason, and it freezes regularly. the only good thing about it is the fact that it has a fairly long standby time. This is often extended because it has turned itself off.

next time i am in reading, i think i will be returning it, but i have to figure out how to store all my phone numbers somewhere forst.

So.... my advice - go for O2 - they work for me, but get a different phone than the N95!

We recently bought a used Sony Ericsson M600i smartphone and it has way too many features for our use. We merely wanted a phone to enable us to retrieve our business email (if important) and access the web whilst we were away over Christmas. Its an MP3 player as well, no camera as already have 2 myself, but loads of other stuff. We got ours sim free so we could use it on our Orange account, but you can get 02 ones.

Check fleabay out as you can get them at decent prices. I use the stylus with mine as I find it easier.

Good luck

well, i have to say that the n95 is excellent. Horses for courses i guess. If you want tom-tom, then you may love the built in gps of the n95. Nokia maps are good, and the whole world is free. I use the wireless lan and web browser a lot, in fact i'm on my n95 writing this... Quicker than firing up my laptop... Takes longer to write this though... Dan.

Yes, it is excellent, when it works! what it does, and the camera is brilliant, but there is no point having a mobile that just decides to turn itself off. I am glad that you have a Wednesday phone, whilst I have a Friday one.

Have you tried updating the software? Can get off website... If so then return to nokia, normally good service.
