have you tried getting MP3 copies off bittorrent? or if you want to do it the official way, try itunes (depending on how much vinyl you have) as there may already be digitised copies out there....

It wouldn't take muh for that not no be as cost effective, even though the quality might be better. At around 79p per track, if i downloaded more than 100 tracks, it would cost more than the turntable. I don't have a huge amount (probably only about 50albums) but it is enough to discard that option.

My reckoning it that i could buy it, put all my stuff onto disc, then sell it second hand. It should keep a bit of value.

I have a Project II turntable which cost me around £120 but the quality is superb.

I think you might need a pre-amp to connect it to a PC. Or just get a decent amp on fleabay.
