This is using XP right click My Computer, click device manager, go to the top and click view and show hidden devices, scroll down until you see Ports (COM&LPT) open this up when you see (COM8) right click and select disable

That should solve the issue

in system restore there will be an option to re-start the system from when it was firsrt turned on.
i cant remember the terminology.

you will have to reinstall all your stuff tho.
