| Urban Legends Reference Pages is the best site for telling you which are hoax virus or scam warnings. Not heard of the snopes virus. |

| If you receive any email advising of the latest virus and which requests you to forward it on to everyone in your address book then I would recommend you C&P the virus name into Google (etc) and do a search. This will tell you if it is a hoax or not. The same applies to those poxy emails that play on your sympathies regarding some poor unfortunate soul who is about to die. Most are hoaxes.

The warning email says it comes in the form of an email entitled " ... a postcard from... " which that website identifies as a true computer virus. However that's just a subject heading so not sure that's an answer. I haven't even opened the warning email, reading in the preview pane, as surely that could be suspect.

| Okay, I think I have become confused. The warning email says " Snopes confirmed as real" but I think the virus may be called "postcard". It's kinda hard to tell but when I googled "Snopes" it sent me to a 'Daily Snopes page' on the Urban legend website It appears that Snopes is a term for "Urban Legends" In which case if the virus is called "Postcard" that would appear to be genuine. My brain hurts

| As you've found Snopes.com Urban Legends Reference Pages is a site which tells the truth about urban legends including chain emails, virus warnings etc. These two links appear to tell you about the postcard 'virus' - the second one (hoax) sounds like what you are describing Urban Legends Reference Pages: 'Postcard from a Family Member' virus Urban Legends Reference Pages: A [Virtual] Card for You Virus

The warning email is pretty much as the 2nd link (including the link to snopes site) but warns of a title exactly as in the 1st (real virus) link. Bizarre. There is a real virus where you receive and email about a postcard but a hoax warning about it. WTF? I'm just not collecting any virtual postcards. Seems best Thanks guys
