| I had to get a DAB radio as I am hopelessly addicted to Talksport; even the bits that bug the sh!t out of me (like John Gaunt and George Galloway) - but then, that is their purpose. They only broadcast in MW and DAB. I didn't mind the crackle on the MW, but the occasional total lack of reception got to me. As they are part of Murdochs evil empire I think they were denied an FM license. Which was a bit of a rip off by the regulators, as they have implicitly encouraged more people to buy DAB. While such marketplace manipulating is condoned, there will remain a future for DAB. I'm surprised a station is being pulled. I heard today that a station on DAB that did nothing but play birdsong for 18 hours a day was doing very well.

| If you like Planet Rock, (or Planet RAWWWWWWWWWKKKKKKKKK), have you tried BBC 6 Music? If you don't have capped broadband, there is loads of content on internet radio - www.reciva.com lists them all. I listen to Radio Io It's a bit like "listening to your mate's record collection" - the sort of mate who plays one track from each album, going "listen to this, it's brilliant". I hope DAB isn't going the way of Betamax, although the sound quality in DV3 is better, I understand. I've got 2 DAB radios, although they only ever seem to get Radio 4.

| Dab Is Dead - Long Live Internet Radio! I bought a new toy yesterday, and I am now as happy as a happy thing in happy land! I've been looking at internet radio for a while, and decided to buy a tuner (well sort of, I suppose you would call it a "client" device) for my hifi when they were cheap. I've bid on a few on eBay but never won the auction. Anyway, I was in Currys Digital on Saturday, using up time before going to the theatre. I went for a nose about the internet radio section, where I found a Logik IRMA-1 - the one I've been bidding on - for £35. I think they are stopping selling them, it could be clearance stock? Anyway, it's fab, not only is it an internet radio, it's also a music streamer so I can play music from the hard drive of this PC through my big hifi. But the internet radio thing sort of makes CD's irrelevant - I've spent a good few hours scanning around different internet radio stations and found loads, whatever kind of mood I could be in, there is music to suit it! Shame it won't work in the car, or anywhere with a secure network (unless you know the WEP or WPA key), but as this is for my home hifi and it's about 6 feet from the router, it's fine by me! I've also got a 20mb connection that is pretty much rock solid, with no download cap - at 192kbps a few hours listening might push you towards some of the smaller capped limits that are out there on ADSL broadband.
