Help need to set up a Wiki

Afternoon,

I'm proposing setting up a Wiki for use within the company (approximately 20 people) that I work for. I started downloading the software for TWiki but it all became very complicated very quickly. I do have some experience with computer programming from when I was at college but this all seems very much over my head.

If anyone has any experience with corporate Wiki's I would be extremely grateful of any advice & software hints.

Cheers,

Dan

Not sure what platform you're using etc but i use Mediawiki (MediaWiki - MediaWiki) and found it very easy to set up using linux/apache/php/MySQL.

After extracting it and configuring apache to point to it the rest of the config was done via a web browser. Very fast and easy.

Would be on a Microsoft server based in the office, don't think I want to go down the online hosted avenue due to bandwidth etc.

Will check out that link.

Cheers String

Even an MS server (i assume its running IIS) can run php/mysql (they're free) so that would work. IIRC mediawiki can use MSSQl or some other formats too.

Im not aware of any wiki software that didnt at least require a database backend and php

Wiki on a VMware image

you could try a VMware appliance... takes a lot of the hassle out of setting up a server and flexible hosting too... I've used this method for Joomla hosting with no probs..

Twiki, Open source enterprize Wiki appliance. (Twiki on Debian)
