Do it at the router. Most have content filters built in.

If using IE, click on tools, internet options, security and then sites. I need to check about password protection to stop your blocked sites from being unblocked without your knowledge (if required?)

Also your anti virus type/firewall package may have similar options.

If you don't mind my being nosey, is it worth it. Kid these days 'know it all' and yours seems to be quite responsible.

Just change the overall security setting so your PC doesn't show X rated web sites. I don't know if this actually stops you from accessing a naughty site if you already know the site address?

The IE option for this is on the same page where you enter specific banned sites.

Have a look at - free sofware to block pornographic websites - Google Search=

Another option is to edit the hosts file.

Do Start, Run, then type:

notepad C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

and hit Enter.

You'll probably see a file which looks like this:

Quote:
# Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
127.0.0.1 localhost
(Some comment text removed)

Add a new line, for example:

127.0.0.1 www.siteyouwanttoblock.com

and save the file.

Your PC will not now be able to connect to any page at the siteyouwanttoblock domain.

in norton internet security there is a specific function for this, you will need to have logged into the puter in an administative account( I set adults to have admin rights on the home one) in Norton 2003 its all in setings for the user.

will send a PM

I use the hosts file to block a lot of adverts but it's pretty useless at blocking content as for every site you know about anybody else can find 10000 more like it in two minutes.

Admittedly blocking YD in the office would save a lot of my time...
