help - me mac's shagged!

Well, maybe not shagged, but it seems to have developed a darkening to the bottom 1/3 of the screen. On start up the screen is uniformly bright, but after a few moments it darkens down again. It looks like something in the settings but I can't see what. Any help?

Hmm, I have to say I have no idea on that one. Try the Apple Support Discussions here Apple - Support - Discussions - Forum Home some clever searching can be very helpful and you can register and post questions. So far it has got my problems solved around 60% of the time.
If you have AppleCare and a quick search on the discussion boards doesn't help, I'd call them. They are pretty good (well, once you get them to put you through to 'Level 2 tech support' at least!).

Have you got it set to auto dim for different light conditions in the preference pane under displays i'd do a screen grab to show you but i'm not that good yet

Serves you right for having a mac... if it was a PC you'd have 50 replies by now
I ued to have a client (household name bank) who worried themselves sick about making sure their website worked on all macs cos whilst they were in the minority, they were nearly always owned by lawyers and journalists.

Try 'System Preferences' then 'Displays'
or 'System Preferences' then 'Energy Saver' to check when you have it set to dim (it will dim after a certain length of inactivity before it sleeps) although that doesn't sound like your problem.

Click on system prefs on your bottom tool bar it's the icon that looks like cogs then click on the displays icon (looks like a screen ) have a look at the settings in there. As for peebee i'm an engineer and have a great respect for things that work as they're designed to unlike pc's so there

Tried that, but worth a green for the effort!
