| you can also use the handbrake software. google 'handbrake' and you should be able to find it. it's a free piece of software that can 'back-up' any DVD you want and also it can change the output file aswell... very handy |

| If it's not a commercial (9gb) DVD like you buy in the shops you will probably just be able to do a straight copy using whatever DVD software you have on your computer. No need to mess about with the likes of DVDshrink thats great for backing up copies of retail DVDs. If you have no software, try deepburner which is free and will do straight copies of normal 4.7gb disks. You can download Deepburner Free HERE Arfie

| Er - they're all making this complicated I fear. Just go to the disc drive (My bloody PC, Windows Explorer or whatever) and copy the AUDIO_TS (if present) and VIDEO_TS folders onto your PC. That's all you need to back it up (literally - unchanged, not in any way re-processed). Then common or garden DVD burning progs (Nero etc) would burn you another copy.

| Except simply copying the Video_ts folder back onto a DVD will not make it playable in a DVD player, you need to use a video burning setting in your software. So you are over complicating it So the simplest way is, as I said, to simply do a straight disk to disk copy Even if you have only one drive on your computer it wil cache the files on the hard drive while it does the copying.
