Something bizarre happened and I tried exiting MSN messenger and thought i ahd but the box was still there and wheni clicked my normal pink msn window was now blue and in the name part was the name of the person I bought the laptop from .

If I uninstall both MSN messenger and Windows Live messenger and re install MSN will my contacts still be on there?

I so hate computers when they dont work!

You only need to be running one or the other that may be part of the problem the two msn's are conflicting with each other.

If you delete them both and reinstall just one of them then that should sort out your problem, as for msn remembering all your contacts they are held in a central place as you can log on to msn anywhere and have your contact list.

I would install windows live messenger not msn messenger.

I would (did) install Trillian instead of buggy MSN that has to be updated forcing it to crash

Trillian allows you to have MSN and AOL (if you know any unfortunate AOL users) and yahoo and other chat things.

Oi I am an AOL user but so rarely use their message service now or infact hardly ever use there other features apart from the occasional visit back into the footy chat room. its done me ok for 9 years.

I'll try not to let it cloud my opinion of you Yazzy

Seriously though, the Trillian software lets you connect to MSN and AOL simultaneously and crashes much less than MSN does I no longer need it as I've managed to wean all my mates off AOL

It also has the ability to do IRC chat, Google chat, Jabber and through plugins to do RSS and many other things.
