| Just heard from HP's automated support You can't disable the touchpad scroll feature So, now where's the ducktape? |

| I've got the same - the porn just won't keep still will it? Just bought a wireless mouse which solves the problem and is way better than that touchpad anyway? |
| ||||
| uninstall the drivers - if that fails ebuild the laptop, and dont install any hp mouse or touchpad drivers

| Can't say this for sure, as I don't have an HP laptop but most modern machines (including the Dell I'm typing this on) use touchpads made by (or at least compatible with) Synaptics. The synaptics driver adds a new tab (device settings) to the control panel dialogue box that, amongst other things, allows you to enable or disable by clicking on "settings" you can enable/disable the "virtual scrolling" option. The synaptics driver is available here: Synaptics :: Drivers HTH Steve

| On mine, if you go into control panel > Mouse there is then a tab marked "gestures" within there are a couple of tickboxes marked "Use vertical scroll" and "use horizontal scroll" just untick them ![]() But I have no idea why you'd switch them off, once you get it mastered it's great, no problems with the porn Arfie |

| Do you have a small red icon on your system tray (next to the clock) it's a red square with a white circle in it but the circle is a bit wiggly?

| Did my previous suggestion not work? I have also just looked on my Acer laptop which runs Vista and again, you go to Control Panel>Mouse then "Device Settings" tab. Selected the Synaptics touchpad and hit settings and there is another tab marked "Virtual Scrolling" and you can untick vertical and horizontal in there. Arfie |
