Email hosting

Can anyone recommend a POP3 email hosting firm, preferably from personal experience rather than googling

I want to use 2 or 3 domain names, with several email addresses on each as cheaply and reliably as possible. A half decent spam filter built in would be nice as I really don't want a penis extension and I have no used for viagra or prozaic.

Currently I am just using the facility in googlemail, but hotmail doesn't accept emails from me, meaning I can't email some friends and customers.

Cheers
Arfie

I use 1&1 Internet Ltd. - have been with them about 3 years now, used to have web hosting too but never used it so have dropped back to email only.

Costs I think 69p/month for 5 mailboxes (and hundreds / thousands of aliases / forwards), the spam filter works very well (gets rid of near enough all the spam, and doesn't delete any it shouldn't), has antivirus too but never pay any attention to that. 1and1 will do your domain names for £2/year if you want them to look after them, or you can keep them wherever they're currently registered.

Supports POP3, IMAP and webmail.

Obviously there are other packages too if you need more mailboxes or anything - they do Exchange email too, but seemed expensive and I didn't think i'd use any of the clever features.

2GB storage per mailbox I think...

And i've never noticed the server ever having been down or unavailable or anything - seems very reliable.

Check out runbox (www.runbox.com). They are very good and yes that is based on personal experience.

I agree with Scuby used 1on1 service for some time. Altough now I switched over to godaddy (http://www.godaddy.com). To set up the email could be a little of a bugger but they r good.

Ditto with 1&1. We've just had a new website developed for our company by a firm who uses 1&1 and we transferred our original domain and email details over to them from BT. All seems to be fine so far (even though its early days). I also registered another 8 domains with 1&1 the other week for a £5 x 2 years each (.co.uk ones).

Seem to have a good following.

Another 1&1 user...

...and recommendation.
Never had any problems and real easy to set up/administer.

Cheers for those guys, I've seen 1to1 before but never used them, godaddy were recommended to me once before for web hosting, but i couldn't be bothered at the time.

I don't need domain names, I've got them sorted through 123reg and for the sake of a maybe a quid, I'll leave them all where they are.

I'll look into them over the weekend and sling some greens then (and for those PM's too )

Personally I've used Domain name registration and website hosting for donkey's years and I've never had any problems with them - cost is £10 a year + VAT and that gives you POP3 and SMTP (worth checking as not all of them provide this!) outgoing server...
