| Hi, I've played music and video from my iPod through the TV using an Apple iPod dock (apparently some non-Apple docking stations don't allow this as my workmate found) and the S video to 3 phono cable. You'll also need to turn the TV signal to "on" in the menu. Depending on the file format of the video/TV programs, you should be able to convert these to a suitable format for DVD but I've only ever done it the other way round. Hope that helps Mike. |

| Thanks. I've turned the TV switch on and got no image and almost no sound, more like a cat being strangled. I'm downloading the videos and programs through the USA site, could be because it is downloaded as NTSC and not PAL? In the I ipod I could switch from one to the other but no lucj either way,

| What cables/connections are you using at the iPod and TV ends? Mike |

As with all things in life; if you don't stick the pointy thing in the correct hole you may get some unexpected results.

| Does the cable connect to the dock connector at the base?If you've got the TV signal set to PAL and the the TV is on the appropriate channel and you still can't get sound, I think you might have the same cabling problem as my workmate. You could try a mini jack to two phono adapter and use the headphone socket - this should defintely get you audio, and then you could use an S video to S video lead for video only. If it doesn't work after that, I'd suggest that you insert the iPod into the middle of the TV at high speed Regards Mike. |

| If it is just a standard camcorder lead then you will have to swap the yellow and red cables around into your TV. Apple have this strange habbit of doing things like this to fool people into buying expensive own braded cables. In reallity is just a standard tv pal signal so just change the cables around.

| Which iPod is it? The newer ones (certainly the iPod Classic) have been setup by Apple so that you HAVE to use a genuine Apple video cable to connect to the TV. No third party ones will work unless they're approved by Apple - all the cables have to have a little chip in now to tell the iPod that they're genuine before they'll work. A rip-off money-making scheme to allow them to charge £50 for a £1 length of wire! David |

Don't forget the £30 chip in the wire - see the £50 is quite reasonable now isn't it - they are almost making a loss. |
