Question XP pro boot partition HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi All
I need to increase the size of the boot partition under XP Pro.
I had to rebuild a dead PC and the only OS I had lying around was XP pro.

Since I'm fairly clueless, and getting more so as the years and technology pass me by, would someone kindly explain how I increase the size of the partition. There is plenty of space on the drive but loads of files I need to keep and have not fully backed up (thats the next job).

Many thanks
Richard

I'd recommend either Partition Magic or Symantec Ghost.
Partition Magic will allow you to increase the size of the partition relatively easily.
With Ghost, you'll have to take an image of the drive and then resize it as you are reapplying the image to the disk.

Another vote for Partition Magic (I've had a copy for quite a while, worth every penny...) - there's no way I'm aware of to do this with the tools that come with Windows. What I do is delete the "other" partitions (in Windows or in Partition Magic); use Partition Magic to re-size the boot partition as required; then use Disk Management (my computer - right click - manage - disk management) to create and format drive(s) in the spare space that's then left. You can also run Partition Magic from two boot floppies or from a boot CD.
