I thought the 5-series was good, but...

Also, found a couple of places that are selling it for quite a bit under list price - and certainly a lot cheaper than at Comet, etc

So, its a 40" series 6 with upscaling dvd and 5.1 for me

Ummm - haven't told SWMBO that the price excludes tilt wall mount and cables

Or, that I'mm gonna have to upgrade Sky to HD & Multi-room

I figure that slipping it past her in smaller amounts might be the way to go (ooh err missus)
Don't bother with a basic upscaling DVD as they tend to oversharpen everything and look really blocky (well, all the Panasonic and Sony ones I've seen do) - IMHO the best upscaler I've ever seen, much as it pains me to say it, is also a blu ray player and a games console - the PS3, believe it or not.

For once, Sony seem to have got everything right. Image quality is awesome, plus you have the side effect of a games console and a Blu-Ray player which really shows off just how good HD can get with bitrates well above those seen on Sky HD.

Awesome TV, black > white graduation seems spot-on (tho I'm not an expert)

Have spent the past 3 days watching DVDs - not sorted out a Blu-ray player yet

The Samsung upscaling DVD and 5.1 surround system unit is equally as good

I'm just p!ssed off now that some of our DVDs aren't 5.1

Oh and play.com are selling DVDs VERY cheap at the mo - much cheaper thans cd-wow

A little while ago we got a JVC 42inch LCD. Very nice it is too! We liked it, not just because of the stunning picture, but because of the surround. There is very little plastic around the picture so the TV overall doesn't look as big as it is and the surround was black. I don't think we could have coped with these TVs that have large silver speakers on each side and big chunks of plastic below the screen.....just too ugly.

We liked it so much that this week, with his first months pay check, my son has bought the 32 inch version and a PS3. I must say I am impressed with Ghost Recon in 1080....and I am not a game player.

After having a 32inch LG flat screen TV for 3 years everytime I turn the 42inch LCD on I go 'wow!' It's never been a purchase I regreted
