| Unlocked iPhone? Any issues with unlocking an iPhone .... I am contemplating one but would have to be on Vodafone network .... I guess it would work but are there any drawbacks .... I read that the latest software was re-cracked pretty quickly .... any thoughts on that similarly appreciated. If not the iPhone, what would you suggest for a good size screen but reasonably portable? Thanks Mal |

| Most places will unlock I-Phones now. A guy I work with has had one for ages (he bought it in America when they 1st came out) and has no problems (I think he is on Orange from memory) Cheers Paul |

| Just got my lad a Samsung F490. Very iPod in it's operation. Micro SD card. But no Wifi. Phone was free on a £30 Vodafone contract. Seems well put together. Vodafone reckon they will be able to offer the iPhone soon with an announcement planned around the new 3g phone. |

| Don't get an iPhone now, wait a few weeks as Apple are almost certainly about to release a 2nd generation one which is fully 3G and probably has GPS and things. Expect to know more on the 9th of June.

| Thanks guys ... and also for the pms .... there seems to be a recommendation to wait .... I *was* really wanting a Sony Ericsson Xperia but that seems to be being delayed, hence now looking at the iPhone. Mal |

| Iphone so so I have one but not unlocked the screen is good where you can expand it. There are many draw backs though if only it was a nokia N95 + Iphone would be good. For a start you can not send picture msg only pics by e-mail can not send bluetooth only connects to hands free etc no other phones. Battery life short mega sqids for replacement and if you crack screen well forget it. You pays your money n takes a chance. Good luck. Ivan. |

| The main thing to note with the iPhone when you unlock it is that some of the functionality gets lost. When I jailbroke mine, the iPod bit stopped working along with the visual voicemail. I ended up reloading the firmware on it and it went back to normal. You won't be able to use Visual voicemail on any other network, but as others have said, the 3G version is mooted to be non-network dependent so you probably will be able to use it on Voda. And there isn't currently any stock anywhere of the non-3G iPhone anyway.
