Opinions wanted on new PDA

Hi all...

I have had an old HP IPAQ for years now, and it has gradually disintegrated...battery compartment all held together with duck tape etc.

I wanted to buy a new one, but all very confusing.... only really want it for deco software, and need Palm OS.... but can anyone recommend a model that will do what I need? I have no interest in using it as a PDA... so not bothered about cameras mp3 etc.... really interested in long standby, user changeable battery etc... so far I have gone round in circles and am none the wiser for it...

There must be a techno expert here who can put me out my misery??

Thanks
Ruth

Tungston E2 should do it,but not sure what version of the OS your Deco software supports ,might well be the starting point in looking ,other than that go wm6 and run mobile Deco ,there also a couple of wm6 software emulators that allow you to run Palm applications ,another option ?

You have a choice of several Palm OS devices. All the modern ones run Palm OS 5.x

The Tungsten TX or E2 are nice devices - I have a TX which is the one I use most*. Both have wi-fi & bluetooth. The E2 has a 320x320 screen, the TX a 320x480 screen.

An other option, if you wanted a smart phone/PDA combo is to look at the Treo 650 or Treo 680

If you are looking at the Treo devices, Palm have also put out some Windows CE treo devices. these will not run Palm OS applications** but there are many WinCE applications that would probably suit you just as well.

*I get given them trough work as we write software for them.
**unless you install styletap(?) to act as a palm os emulator

I loved my Treo 650, then Orange stopped offering them as an upgrade so I went for htc with wm5, not bad, but not as great as the Treo. I had Tide Tool and J-Plan, on the Treo, both of which worked fine, don't get me wrong, V-planner is as good, but I don't love the phone.
