    Ipod to Itunes...

    Has anyone used software called CopyTrans to copy music FROM Ipod TO Itunes on a computer?

    I tried to move my itunes music to an external hard drive last night - suffice to say there's a reason i don't work in IT. I managed to not only delete half my music from the computer but also, now wherever I put the music itunes doesn't see it. My ipod still has everything on it as I've not plugged it into the laptop since it all went pairshaped - so i want to copy it back onto the computer. I found CopyTrans on the web and it claims it will do what I want - anyone used it for that purpose?

    No, but if you put it into disk mode you may get away with it.
    Proviso is that I'm guessing, being new to iPods and iTunes

    Hi Noel,

    Sorry to be a technical luddite, but how do you put it into Disk Mode? (There really is a good reason I don't work in IT! - Normally they have guards with cattle prods at work to keep me away from computers and I'm only allowed to use the TV remote control under strict supervision!)

    I'll try that - will it stop it automatically synchrnising with itunes? That's the reason I've not plugged it into the laptop yet, with no music in itunes I didn't want to wipe it all off the ipod!!

    I honestly have no idea, do you have another computer to plug it into? I just thought it might be an idea if no-one else can help.

    That ilounge place looks useful - didn't know about it before. Found something on there that said if you hold CTRL & SHIFT down while connecting your ipod it won't automatically sync - anyone tried that?

    I lost my iTunes when the dog killed my laptop. Installed iTunes on my desktop, plugged in the iPod and all the music copied itself across no worries.

    Perhaps if you delete all the music on your PC (back it up to CD, external HD, etc just in case this doesn't work), then plug in your iPod it will restore the PC music library.
