is it poss to have several accounts so that MSM contacts from one person don't keep popping up when the other person is using the PC?
I thought we might have to set up diff users (diff log on when pC boots up) but that seems a bit OTT?

Still hoping to become Comfortably Numb but feel more Dazed & Confused.
I have 2 MSN log-ins and not everyone on one of them is on the other.
a PC (afaik) can only be logged in to one MSN account at a time, and each account can only be logged in on one PC at a time.

Why not use a third party app like kopete (unsure if there is a windows version). There is a lot of software available now for MSN so use what you find is best.
Here is one such program:
Miranda IM - Home of the Miranda IM client. Smaller, Faster, Easier
Hope this helps
It is possible to have multiple accounts on live messenger without having to create multiple user accounts on your pc.
Just set MSN / Live messenger to not automatically log in and you can select the account you want to use.
You could use a third party application but there is generally no need as long as its one person one account.
I've found that applications such as trillion are handy if you want to use one interface for many IM applications (i.e. yahoo, AOL, MSN messengers) but they lack the panache of the original applications.

don't see why not.. if you use different User Accounts for those people - then different MSN logins should be possible.
Wilbo.
It USED to be possible to run two seperate versions of MSN and be logged into both on a different account simultaneously. The main problem is that one of the logins would be on a the very old original version of the app and felt horrid. I haven't tried it in a few years and not sure I can remember what tweaks were necessary.
Triillian, I am told, does this natively, so I'd be more inclined to give that a bash but THC's right, it doesn't feel as good as the originals.
Have a look at Pidgin.

I use Trillian Pro and it can handle loads of MSN acounts along with AIM, yahoo, jabber and others. I also set it to check my gmail accounts and handle RSS feeds.
one user can have multiple MSN accounts and you can have multiple users with multiple MSN accounts if you want.
