Replacing neck seals

Hi Please can some one enlighten me on the best way to replace a latex neck seal and what is the right glue for the job my suit is a Gates Pro VSN 1100.
Any help would be appreciated

As a commercial diver, i get though a few and found the best way is ..

You will need ,,, a hard rubber traffic cone,evo stick, evo stick brusher cleaner,wet n dry scratchy paper,a 1 inch wallpapering seam roller, hair dryer.

1). On way home from work, pinch a hard rubber traffic cone.
2). Cut the top off 6 inches from the top.
3). File edges smooth,making sure no wire is showing .

top part used for wrist seals,,,, bottom now wide and has a firm base,,,, &nbsp; ideal for necks and boot.

1). Rip/cut off old seal, leaving about 2 inches all round.
2). Strecth neck over the cone making sure it's even / level all
&nbsp; &nbsp; the way round.
3). Using a hair dyer, warm the cover tape, ( this normally
&nbsp; &nbsp; comes of easy,, pull it while warming and it's clean and
&nbsp; &nbsp; old glue free.
4). Suit warm enough to release whats left of old seal.

** If not , and i always do,,,scuff up around the neck using some 120 grit wet and dry, just to remove any bits of glue and to make rubber go dull. **

5). &nbsp;Wipe all surfaces to be glued with evo stick brush cleaner
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;twice.
6). &nbsp;BRUSH glue onto suit first allowing a small overlap of the
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;seal
7). &nbsp;Place new seal over the cone,pull over suit neck to how
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;far down you want it,** aldepends on the shaape / type.
8). &nbsp;BRUSH glue on the covering tape making sure you got all
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;edges and ends really covered.
9). &nbsp;Allow glue to be touch dry before mating surfaces
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;together.
10). CAREFULLY roll down the new seal on to the suit, so the
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; two surfaces match.Making sure NO creases are made.
11). When happy, use the roller and roll downwards motion
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; hard, making sure that every bit is well rolled.
12). BRUSH glue onto the new seal to half the width of the
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;covering tape, and allow for touch dry.
13). When ready, carefully add the tape,pulling it gently ,
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;with a little heat from the hairdyer.
14). When flat and smooth and your happy,get rollering.
15). After an hour, any traces of glue that you don't want
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;( don't know if your fashion makes you want to look &nbsp;
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;smart ), rub gently with your finger and glue will come off.
16). Leave a good 12 hours before removing from the cone.


Tips.

If it has stuck to the cone. GENTLY warm with hair dyer,it will come off with any damage. and next time BE MORE careful with the glue.

You will be edgy the first time you do this,but if you do balls up, just remember you can pull it off and do it again JUST make sure all surfaces are clean before applying glue.

Hi Andy,

I now have the cone and Evo-Stik Impact Adhesive but can't track down any Evo-Stik brush cleaner, is there anything else which can be used instead. &nbsp;Any suggestions??

<font color='#0000FF'>You got any Poundstretchers or Wilkinsons shops in your area? five brushes for a pound usually, use them then then bin them?

BTW those cones are much bigger inside your car than they look as you're driving past aren't they? not that I know from practical experience, honest Officer &nbsp;

They're really heavy when they're on your head too.
Be aware when on a motorbike,flying past with foot out knocking them all over that the last one is often weighted with concrete,it broke my mate's ankle and nearly had me off &nbsp;
You could aklso use the Bostick 2 part glue from dive shops but this is more expensive than evo-stick.How much have you been quoted to supply a neck seal....I think I have some?
