Hi all,
Has anyone done the above course yet - as it's only a day it would appear a cheaper/more practical course than some of the others.
And if anyone has a copy of the 'BlenderCalcs' software and they'd like to share it, that would be even better!
Thanks

Robert

I've done the course with Robin Hood. I found it to be one of the best SDC's I've ever done. Very interesting & hands on with the practical.

We did it over a couple of Thursday evenings, and were charged £95.

There is no need to do seperate course for nitrox & trimix, as the course covers both.

Drop me a PM re BlenderCalcs.

Richard, can you do the course even without Trimix quals? I've kinda got this image that you can't in case you circumvent training by making your own mixes

You certainly don't need Trimix for the IANTD gas blender course as I did this a few years ago. &nbsp;I can't see why BSAC would need it.

I think it's more about the safety implications and compressor operation.

Anyway I found it interesting, don't think I would have got into home blending without the course.

No, no restrictions.

The four of us who did the course were all Extended Range Divers, or equivalent.

The course is also meant to be for dive centre staff &amp; boat skippers, who may not even be nitrox qualified.

The IANTD course is also one day and £100.00 &nbsp;Trimix is extra, although the DSAT course can include Tx if the intructor wants to I could not find anyone that did!
BSAC has no Tx qualifications so why would you want to blend the stuff???
One point although like me most people will blend for themselves or club members, does the BSAC cover you to work in a shop? &nbsp;My understanding of BSAC quals is you need to be a paid-up member. &nbsp;My IANTD qualification is for life (even for when I'm old and can't spell nightrocks any more..).

I've been quoted £150 for it, which is about £55 more than i expected, and the others i was going to do it with have lost interest.

BSAC allows use of trimix within branches so I can see a use for a trimix blending ticket there.
I did the TDI advanced blender so years ago at a cost of around £50 I seem to remember. I wouldn't do a BSAC SDC in anything like this type of thing, you are better going to the specialists for stuff like this as it is far more &quot;transferable&quot; between organisations etc.

I would be very interested to know if any BSAC branches carry helium??

I used to belong to Brighton, we had O2 and the EO was thinking of doing a trimix qual, so that branch may get there next year....

Meantime I'm looking at how much garage space I can spare...

<font color='#0000FF'>Gas blending is conducted by specialist centres and not by BSAC instructors, here if the webpage for further information.  Seems very similar to the IANTD one.

www.bsac.org/techserv/syllabus/mixgasblend.htm

and includes the following:

Practical Lesson - Practical Gas Blending and assessment - 180 mins
* Nitrox blending
* Trimix blending
* Heliair Blending
* Air Top recalculations

Sorry dont know how to add the link properly.

Fiona
