| Imported post I dont have a manifold. This is because i cant turn them off without a slob knob. i dont like slob knobs cos i will, eventually, end up teaching and they seem waaaay complicated to trainees (i remember my instructor taking 5 mins to explain what it all did, i was concentrating on breathing!). I cant turn off a manifold cos my arms are too short, and you are honestly telling me im supposed to be able to shut them off when the shit hits the fan? I dont mind swapping regs - i used to be stuck under the water for ages with no air when i used to teach watersports, so being able to breathe is a novelty!

As long as you are using a decent manifold and have them rigidly mounted in good quality SS bands they are pretty much bombproof. It is when they are mounted in cheap bands or cam straps that the flexing causes problems. Probably the easist way of preventing maor problems is to make sure you fix any minor ones right away and don't let them develop into major ones

Don't let clueless people touch your kit! I'm a lazy person and I have no problem carrying my cylinders wherever I go. The only people I let touch my rig are my buddies who have twins and know how to handle them and one of the dive shops I use because they know as well, and even then not all the guys who fill the cylinders. Easy way to save £100. It's always better to cure the disease than alleviate the symptoms. Chris
