In other news, a few YDers had a beer with Leigh a couple of years back in Sharm, the git is not only a great diver but a totally decent human being, completely enthused about the sport.

Wink Wreck dive record apparently now 210m

I just saw these posts on the deepimage website forum. I don't know whether the story is true or not, but it makes interesting reading!

"Hi,

You probably want to know, that Grzegorz "Banan" Dominik (the man has discovered this deep part of Yolanda), had set new record.

He has dived to 210m on his modified Buddy Inspiration.

More information is aviable at www.abyss-diving.pl (unfortunatelly in Polish)

"Story about „Yolanda wreck” …
It was beginning of July 2003r, when we (I and Greg DOMINIK) two polish technical divers decided to find deeper part of Yolanda wreck. So, we chose the day, and we descended below the containers were placed (around 70 m). After a long swimming to the end of the reef corner Greg at depth 150m discovered the bow and the anchor of Yolanda. I was at 125m, but view was amazing. When we finished all our deco and came back to the boat, all people was informed about Yolanda. At that time Leigh Cunningham was also on the boat, he had conducting some tech courses. And everything would be fine, but…
In 10 June 2005 in divernet we found article that Yolanda had been reiterated discovered, by 2 British divers also but two year’s after??? Sounds incredible, but was done…
All that situation, and next dive to 205m by Cuningham and Andrews, was the reason why Greg DOMINIK decided to dive Yolanda once more.
Last dive was at max. depth 210m, and that depth was only for check the British information, but he didn’t want to break a new record as well.
The dive details:

Rebreather Buddy Inspiration (standard electronic)
- max depth 210m
- total time 210 min
Gases :
- bottom TMX 7/75
Back Up:
- 6x12 liters tanks
All backup gases was carrying by them self.

Tomasz Wróblewski"

Thanks jptaylor9,

amazing reading. Did I read it right that they were air diving to 100m for their training dives - WOW.

A few years ago I dived to 80m on mix and was still narced , I wish I was as able as them.

I have heard of uk400`s imploding at 100m but to loose your contents gauge and a vyper very scary.

Think I will stick to 60m max.

Sorry for hijacking the thread.

I was talking to Mark Ellyat, who holds the solo 313m depth record and he is planning to beat the wreck diving record by diving a 200m+ wreck in Menorca.

I think that there is a bit of history between him & Mark Andrews who he beat to the previous wreck diving record of 168m on the Baden

I believe he begins his training dives for the attempt next week.
