A problem with inner tubes.

You will need to have something to lift them with as if your hads are freezing they are fiendishly difficult to get a grip on to stow your hoses.

Mark, as others have said, the bike tube will be too small. Even a pony will need something like a motorbike tube, and a bigger cylinder a car tube.

To cut it...

Think of a donut, now cut yourself a slice. You would cut it from the outside edge to the middle hole, not along the full ring. Or if it was really a donut you would just shove it all in your mouth

With a bicycle tube, you would have a snoopy loop that was only about an inch across (unstretched). If you cut it the other way, you will have a snoopy loop that it about two foot across.

So, for making a loop for strapping your hose to your tank, get a motorbike tube if it is a stage rigged pony, or a car tube for a 7-15L tank. Car tube are easy to get from tyre repair places and vary in widths too. Any time I ask they are happy for me to take them out of their way. They are only throwing them in the bin otherwise.

You can use bungee too. Tie it around your cylinder to whatever tension you want. The ends form a handle you can pull on easily with gloves for restowing a hose.

yeah got bungee on mine at themo..but it never seems to hold the hose tight enough to the cylinder..my reason for asking about iner tubes...with the bike tube i would use the whole thing cut it and tie it around the cylinder..many thanks for the replys.

I use car iner tubes with my stages cut them into strips then i use a small bit of elastic and loop it round to form a simple pull handle for lifting the inner tube away from the tank to allow me to tuck the hoses back in even with cold hands
