What computer for backup???

I'm looking to for a backup computer to run in gauge mode, basically as a dive timer that I can down load my dives from.

There is one thing it must be and that is "cheap"

If any one has any suggestions, or are after getting rid of a second hand one then give PM me.

Thanks

Ivon

Depends how cheap you think cheap is.

Suunto Vyper has gauge mode and can be downloaded. Costs around the £200 mark.

If you can download from your main computer why not just get a D timer?

I have a Vyper as backup to my VR3.

If you're after a dive timer, with a display you can refer to, something like a suunto vyper / mosquito / vytec should do the trick.

If it's just dive logging and data capture, you could get hold of one of these.

hope this helps

I have a VR£ as my main computer and the download facility is cr*p, I can't realy afford another as back up being a poor student an all

£200 is still a bit for a dive timer, if there is anything cheaper that would be better, if not I may have to make do with a bottom timer.

Thanks

Ivon

I have an Aladin PRO but don't want to bend it every dive and i'm not sure you can put them in gauge mode, also it will beep like a bugger.

What price can you get the Quantum for? that may be an Idea as I can use it to give me real time deco on the Inspiration for nitrox dives.

£179 brand new delivered from flea bay and it does have gauge mode (I think you have to buy the PC interface seperately though - £97)

I use, or rather will use when I get it back from the bleedin jewellers, a Citizen AquaMaster. logs 4 dives, shows depths, temp etc. Back to the good old PADI tables for pressure groups though if I ever do need to use it.
