| Never been there but I was passed the following some time ago: Swithland Woods in near to the villages of Swithland and Cropston in Leicestershire. The easiest wat to get there is through the village of Anstey. You may want to refer to a map but your quickest way is probably M1 and come off at Junctuion 22, through Markfield and then on to Anstey. Once you are in Anstey you will see a small roundabout in the middle of the village, you need to turn right folowing the signs to Cropston. You will leave the village of Anstey and follow the open road into Cropston you will come to a road junction, go straight over this, pass a pub on your right (the road bends to the left) and then pass a reservoir on your left. You will shortly pass an entrance to Bradgate Park on your left and then you will see the entrance to Swithland Woods on your right. There is a small car park and the only access is on foot via a gate. We meet at this gate at 9.30am, once we have all met we go into the woods and the gate is locked. Yes, Charnwood forest is the same place as Swithland wood. It is a deep slate quarry situated in the centre of a wood as the name suggests. It is part of Bradgate Park, Leicestershire. It is about 50m in depth, very dark in an hour glass shape. There is an old Jag car in there and not much else. Good for training. It costs about £40 to hire out for the day, this can be booked through Bradgate Park Estate Office 0116 236 2713. |

If diving the place, the best thing is to put in a shotline attached to the tree You need a good torch and preferably a backup torch - its DARK, actually its pitch black beyond about 14m |

| Take an O2 kit, deco bottles to hang on the shotline and something very warm to drink. Max 4 cars down at the site.
