Two points and this applies to Mals reply as well.

First up there are many engineering solutions that demand a left-hand
thread, often because of the rotation of wheel/forces etc.

Second how come its ok to do s-drills in your sleep, but cant manage
to learn that you might shut down another way.

Try it now. Put left over left shoulder, right over right. Now turn both
in the same direction. Your right will be going clockwise your left
anti-clockwise, but (and this is the point) it doesnt feel unatural because
you are doing going parralell to each other.

Problem solved. Neat hose routings and both keep open no matter what
lump of rock you hit.

And for Mal. Makes no odds about opening again, because both remain
open.

the right and again the hose would go straight down.

You can replace drysuit valves. Only cost about £30 on ebay for a sexy
swivel and keep the old one as a spare.

As for the other hose, ok its a failure point, but less of one then that bulge by the look
of it. Try Swivel Adaptors H.P. & L.P. on SAP Catalogue

Rt angled adapter will route hose at rt angles to rt.

I guess had you been around at the start you could have proposed this and all the manufacturers would have seen the benefit of your suggestion, they would have been able to foresee the growth of twinset usage and would have happily set up two production lines .... one for right handed operation and one for left hand operation. Obviously the capacity of the left hand production line would be less because single tank users would still want conventionally handed valves.

Unfortunately you weren't and they didn't so I guess as divers we are stuck with having to run our dry suit feeds from the left post .... how short sighted the industry is sometimes.

Get real Mal. Not only is the tech industry festooned with overpriced kit
and manufactuerers grubbing for the latest niche to promote there product,
but making it left-handed is extremely easy.

The valve is already handed, so no conflict with single tank users, theres
is right. The body stays the same and we are only talking about cutting a
left handed thread. Ok there are one or two other
considerations, but this stuff is engineering kindergarden.

There's no arguing that it's easy to make the thing.

The issue is distributing the thing. Are you seriously going to suggest that every single diver swaps over to the new manifold, and changes all of their manifolds? I have about 5, I think. Others have more, some less. Of course some would say this was a marketing gimmick and would not buy into the idea. Then we would have a mixture of manifolds out there. Which in my opinion would be a much more dangerous situation that currently exists.

Well if it was not immediately obvious I was being everso slightly facetious but, being serious this time, assuming the manufacturers went along with your thinking .....how would you implement such a design? If you ever hired or borrowed a set of doubles you would have to specify which type you wanted etc etc.... I can't see it working .... and since there is no real problem to solve I can't see why anyone would bother.

Mal

EDIT: Also ... Which way should the manifold isolation valve be ? (ok I am being facetious again )

She could get old Brucie to help her out!

With regard to manifold design and re-manufacture: aren't there new ones in M26 sizes to accomodate the new EU rules with regard to different mixes etc. . . . ?

Please don't do this in the water with the "new" manifold design.
