However i could be talking balls and some GUE/DIR diver will put me straight

You are correct Graham (shock horror!!)

Son, you're going to have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming aircrew. You can't do both.

The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits.

So, is the only reason for breathing down a reg to work on the first or second stage? Removing muscles from diaphrams, slugs from 2nd stages, and tightening 1st stages etc..

Then if you wern't doing that, and didn't do Gooey, there is no point in breathing down a reg?

Because Mark, from what I remember of his Fundies course report, had a very wet reg which meant that when he switched over, he ended up breathing in a load of water and had no other source of gas (not sure if buddy was being particularily attentive, can't comment, wasn't there).

Depends on how you view a problem with a 1st or 2nd stage. Having something go wrong doesn't necessarily mean the end of the dive. Having the procedures in place to diagnose the problem and therefore attempt to solve the problem, means you are in a stronger position to continue. A bubbling 1st stage may be now more than a poorly sitting reg which can only be reseated by de-pressurising the system.

Note how I spelt mussel and not this way, muscle. However, it was a small mussel

Oh i dont know lets see,

Breath down reg, switch to other reg and oh dear it dosent work and nearly drown in 6m of water. How stupid is that.

Its an insaine practicee drill

In all the years of practice shutdowns i have done i never once had an incident that was anywhere near life thretening. Yet in one DIRF course in 6m of water I nearly croked.

NEVER intentionaly leave your self with out a confirmed gas supply. Blipping the reg (as i did) is NOT confirmation that the reg is working. 50% gas and 50% water is NOT a breathable reg but it blips just fine.

If you want to practice shut downs turn the reg off and turn it back on again and confirm its working before switching to another reg and doing the same.

I beleive GUE have since changed the drill.

They haven't changed the drill completely, it is as per the one above that I posted.

But if your kit was crapped out there should have been two others there with regs to donate? wasnt that the case?

and if they have changed the drills what are they now.
