We are trying hard, but it's quite difficult as the more open, inviting and easy going we are, the more difficult it becomes to resist getting wound up when people use words like "cult following". I never ceased to be amazed by people that will criticise a DIR diver for using offensive terminology in one sentence, and then use equally stupid terminology in the next. DIR divers say plenty of stupid things, but it's worth recognising that sometimes the shoe is very much on the other foot and the best thing we can do it not rise to it.

Hey ho. Onwards and upwards

Diver s died after he got into difficulties in a tunnel 57m metres down.

This guy had manifold twins and he did his drill s he was later found to have air in both cylinders , he had turned the cylinder off doing drills at 57m

Just pointing out that no matter what set up you dive , its not always going to save your life ,

I don't understand the relevance of the time or depth sorry. Closing the isolator tells you nothing about what has happened. That doesn't matter what depth you are at, or how long you have been there.

Just having a go with this new multi-quote feature

But the nice thing about CCR is that it doesn't really matter if you turn off your O2 for a bit - you have several minutes to deal with the problem. If I hear bubbles behind me then I turn off all my gas and diagnose the problem by turning stuff back on. So rolling off the O2 isn't really a problem.

Just curious, but does anyone really believe they dive with unsuitable equipment? I believe that my kit is 100% right, otherwise I'd change it. Surely most people think the same way?

Also, I don't know anyone who recommends diving with a straight manifold. In fact I don't think I've seen one outside the club's shelf in the cupboard for obsolete equipement. And if no-one is diving one, or recommending them, then doesn't that mean we're all in agreement that they're crap?

And as a random aside, can you take a TDI course on independents?

Janos

I know a diver who has already done a TDI course on Independants and I another Indi diver who has two TDI courses linned up. I believe it is at the discresion of the instructor. But as I don't even know what a Valve drill is called, I wouldn't put too much store in my answer

Cheers. We can be sure that the valve drill on indies will be a little bit different to someone with an isolator!

Yep, change regs... surface... shut your valve if you like. (of course that relies on being very aware of your gas management )
