Or PSAI, ITDA, SAA, BSAC, SDI...

I have never done a course with Phil Short but having met him and having been around him teaching tech courses he is definitely one of the few in the UK that I would trust.

emm.. not quite.

BSAC still have a recommended recreational diving limit using air to max 50m.

However, the new Sports Mixed Gas course advocates trimix 20/30 for use in teh 35 - 50m, and the Advanced SMG has a limit to 60m using 20/30 with two deco stages.

OK, I don't have much to do with BSAC having let my membership lapse a few years ago (saw enough faded orange Buddy Commando stab jackets and beards to last me a lifetime). So what level of BSAC diver do you have to get to before they'll let you do a mix course?

entry to bsac sports mixed gas course requires the diver to be qualified to advanced nitrox and extended range diver.

they say that SMG can be done by a sports diver but to do extended range course, you have to be dive leader??

ERD's pre-requisits are Sports diver + Adv. Nitrox

As sports divers is limited to 35m, you don't have to be doing deep (40m+) air dives.

Neil, that isn't the question.

What is the minimum depth you must do on ERD before you can move onto the SMG course?

Son, you're going to have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming aircrew. You can't do both.

The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits.

I am due to do the ERD assesment dive sometime in the next few weeks. This will be a 35m dive.

The SMG course lists Sport + Adv Notrox + ERD as prerequisits, so there can bee no need to do deeper than 35m
