There are two schools of thought really. One will cross over the two hoses behind your head so the wing will be fed from your right cylinder, and your dry suit will be fed from your left.

Personally, though I use a manifold, I feed from the same side as my tanks. So as my wing inflate is on my left - I feed from the left tank. My dry suit inflate is to my right, so it feeds from my right tank. I did this as it make more sense to me and in an emergency I want it to be intuitive to me, which that set up is (for me).

I am not sure about independants, but crossing the hoses over is probably a more popular method with twinsets, so it would be easier for a buddy to find a problem if the hose routing is the same as theirs.

I expect to sort a problem out myself, so it is more important for it to be logical to me rather than anyone else.

Saying that, if you dive with one or two regular buddies, then they should know your set up i.e. you should ensure that they know it and that you know theirs.
