| Not a user of helium in diving, but has anyone actually tested the purity of baloon gas versus medical/diving grade helium?

| Yes. No good for diving. Lots of other random gases possibly in there, including potentially CO2 and CO. Neither of which you want near you underwater. At all. It's not a controlled gas in the same way as O2 and He for breathing use are. But it doesn't stop a lot of us using welding O2 when needs must. Plus it's bloody expensive against the cost of industrial gases in a lot of cases. Digs. |
