It may sound a little strange, but walking round with a twinset for me is easier than it was with a 12/15 and a pony, probably due to the position on my back. Have try and see how you get on...

Depths... and time...?

Light down to 30 for 30/35 mins... twin 300bar 7's
Deeper or longer... 232bar 12ltr twinset..

easy... buy both and yo've got all the bases covered and you pick you tanks to the dive you want to do.. all your other kit stays the same...weight belt excluded.

"Light and simple" and "Twinset" are not mutually compatible IMO.

Why do you want a twinset? More gas, more redundancy, better trim?

If you need the gas, then you need to carry it. Which is heavy and twinsets have more hoses and regs etc than a single, so not simple either. But if you need it ...

With a single and pony you have redundancy unless you are doing overhead environments or decompression, or depth.

If this the only reason, then you may be able to make it feel and trim out better. When I use a pony with a 15L, I side sling it like a stage cylinder, I never found this to be unbalancing. So, that may be an option.

Nice things about side slinging a pony:

(1) It doesn't unbalance you. (I know, you would think it should)
(2) You don't have to take it if you don't want to that dive.
(3) Your rig is easier to lift and move about on land.
(4) You can hand if off to another diver if necessary.
(5) If you ever to get a bit more technical, you will be accustomed to carrying a side slung bottle.
(6) It is easy to turn on and off the valve, and if you bungie the reg to the bottle as you would a stage, it doesn't get mixed up with your main gas.

Ditto.
Twins are much closer to you and, often, the harness is more spine friendly.
Certainly my twins may be heavier but they seem to walk easily.

Twin 12s. You don't want 10s, they're for dwarf girls. Long story, but basically they're not the tins you need.

You will find you can move 12s around as easily as your 15 and pony. It will be easier to dive in the water.

All you need to do is get them setup right and work on shutdowns. It's not nearly as complicated as it seems, in an hour or so I could have all the bits from out of the bag to setup and ready to dive for you, or someone else who has done it a few times could do the same.

Digs.

A "standard" twins setup has no more second stages or hoses than a single setup - only an extra first stage, which you don't notice during a dive. And twins will have fewer second stages / hoses than the single + pony setup he's currently using.

And if you're currently using a 15l (or even 12l really) then if you want to do 2 dives a day get twin 12's - or twin 7's for one dive a day. Twin 10's seem to fill a gap which (for most people) are too big for one dive, but too small for two.
