| best dry suit? Hi, For those diving twins, and doing shut down practice regular, what suit are you using? I have an Oceanic Aerdura, probably a little too small, and a thick undersuit - i can't reach my valves easy My right valve will always be tricky, I have a plate fitted in my collar bone. When I was a little slimmer, I had an Oceanic Flex (quite an old version), but this is probably 3 sizes too small now! Do I need to be looking at membrane or neoprene? Thanks in advance, Chris |

| Best drysuit - the one which fits |

| And keeps you dry?

| Which drysuit I have Oceanic Flex 2000 some 6 years old and a Seaskin Nova in its second season, both membrane. Both fit well and allow complete shutdowns. If reaching one valve is going to be an issue consider a slob knob. I used to use one and they have merit, but extra failure points. Tricky if you use stages. |

| First of all, I would recommend a thinner undersuit - the 4th element seems to go down well. Try that stuff with your current suit and it should buy you a better range of movement.

| I know how you feel I've just completed my Advanced Nitrox and Deco Procedures, and shut downs were a pain, face down in the mud and wriggling like a stuck pig the first time wasn't fun, and shutting down a tap and not being able to open it up is so frustrating. I found the problem was with the gloves. I bought a pair of 2.5mm gloves (I was using 5mm at the time) as after trying it without gloves and it was a doddle, but you'll need gloves at depth. You'll find that you'll be better with your dominate hand (the one you write with) but it's just a case of practice. I was doing shut downs on the way up at stops at the end of the course. It's just a case of practice and getting the muscle memory working for you. Once you've got it you'll wonder what all the fuss was about. I think it's just like mask clearing when you first started out. ;o) Happy diving. oh and wear the the crotch strap a little loose so that you can pull the rig up when slightly inverted, it only makes it easier.Last edited by DougH : 16-09-07 at 02:31 AM. |
