| I was working my way through a squeeze. Nearly sent me round the bend. Once we'd used some 1T lifting bags to remove some boulders, I could plop though leaving hardly any trace apart from a couple of skid-marks that only required a light brushing.

Mark I guess I was labouring the point that practicing the procedure in full and at a realistic speed is what will ensure it can be repeated in times of stress. Remembering to breathe the reg down, proficiency with clipping off, signaling your buddies are all important parts, in my opinion. Checking valves are in the right position is not the same thing in my book, in the same way taking your reg out of your mouth is not proper practice of an OOG procedure. Helpful, I agree, but not real practice. Thoughts? Mal |

| Did three dives today sucessfully performing shut downs. tried on platforms first a few times. bit of struggling. had to lift base of cylinders with one hand whilst 'rolling' the valve with t'other. became easier and managed to swim across the lake (blue lagoon about 400m across) shutting down/opening all the way (about three or four times). Bouyancy and trim was ok. Not up and down too much! i b chuffed. |
