Smile Converting a Bauer Junior electric to petrol?

Does anyone here have any knowledge or experience in converting Bauer Junior II compressors from single phase electric power to the Honda (160) 5.6HP petrol engine?

It appears to me that the Hondas don't all have the same shaft diameter. 22 mm appears to be fairly common though.

I am wondering if:

1. The base plate will take the engine... it appears there are extra mounting holes on there that are unused.

2. What diameter shaft the Bauer petrol engine pulley wheel requires.

3. How you regulate the RPM of the Honda 5.6

4. Can it be converted easily?!

Honda 5.6 engiones are easy to come by... very common engines.

Any information or advice would be appreciated.

converting Junior II to petrol drive

Hi,
You could try Divex on 01932 569935 and ask to speak to Mike Alexander, the resident engineer, who should be able to answer all your questions.
The shaft speed on the Junior II is 2300 rpm and the max speed for the Honda GX 160 is 3600 rpm.
Mike should also be able to tell you what diameter pulley you require for the engine and may be able to supply the correct one. You will probably need a new drive belt to suit as well.
When you have the engine filled to the base plate you will need to align the engine pulley to the compressor pulley with a straight edge to ensure there isn't any runout on the belt.

Have fun,

Phil

You will have to fit a new pulley to the honda
Size is SPZ90 with a tapper lock to fit your shaft 22mm? are your sure most are 19mm
Honda will fit bauer base but you will also have to change the drive belt
to SPZ Lw900 Din7753
Under the honda Throttle is a screw that you adjust so the compressor is running at 2300Rpm
Also as adjust pulley to make sure that they run in line.
When starting from cold open the inter stage drain all the way open.

You can get the bits from any branch of BSL 0870 2402100

Thank you.

Thank you very much gentlemen, most helpful... a lot more than Bauer were who said we would be better off looking to buy a petrol one in the first instance!

Best wishes,

Martin and Tracy F.
