V-Planner mixer uses the "Z factor compressability" charts and data. i.e. real gas properties. This chart from Atomox give a graph of "Z factor" compressions.

Some of the examples and comments above are in error.
  • Note that you need to set Mixer to bar or PSI - it makes a difference.
  • Also note that a starting pressure of 0, contains 1 ATA of gas. That fact is often overlooked when making a mix and in the 0 pressure sample above.
  • Mixer does not contain any fudge factor to allow for settling or heating in the fill process - the values shown are for a cold and stabilized fill state, and it may take a hour to reach this state. If your throwing together a mix in a short time, then extra fudge is required.

Regards

Ardhill,

there were some woeful replies to your post...here is some math from the real world

0.27(you want) -0.21/.79 x 210 (pressure wanted) = 15.9 or 16 bars oxygen

just exchange what you want for the first number and multiply by the final pressure

oxygen should be rounded down... clearly ross from v-bender is as good a blender as he is a deco expert

er, just noticed Gobfish1 had just answered your post quite eloquently and totally rubbished ross from v-bender with his z-factor BS....zzzzzz zzzzzz

V Planner gives me 21 bar O2 and top with air

Other blender programmes give me 16 bar O2 and top with air

Now that I think about it, do normally use V Planner, but also normally over fill the air part to get the blend.

Is this right, does it include the fudge factor that many people add or is there a glitch in my copy (I use the PDA version).

Thanks
