no need for custom hoses all mine are off the shelf at Kent diving.

the halo was bought cheap from a YDer who was denying he was a DIR diver when he patently was. even though he is a short little ginger guy with a west country accent

Nigels website helped me set it up and I have never looked back on the twins.

Peaple are making a big thing about custom hoses, there was a time when 5 or 7foot hoses where custom hoses.

As for intaglement risk from somebody who got hung up in HMS Landrail I would prefere to be able to have the bottoms clear to that I have more chance of backing out of the hole i swam into.

Graham.

Any time you want a GUE v invert shutdown contest I'd be happy to oblige re: the entanglement what is more likely to snag a smooth bottomed cylinder or valves and regs?

Why, would you try and dissuade someone wanting to take the GUE path as a first step?
You are missing the point mate most people don't dive with rigid set procedures and just accept a compromise, horses for courses if you will. I can dive with GUE trained divers, solo or with any Tom, Dick or Paul Oliver with minimal disruption, and in over 700 dives my inverts have done nothing to cause me or my buddies a problem.

Why don't you admit the real reason you feel the way you do is a rule 6 violation and everything else is just a smoke screen

I must bow down to the Digmeister though if he says 99% then it must be so, although I would love to see the hard proof behind that assumption.

I agree with Ardhill any dive requiring 4 stages would see me using a CCR.

Safe diving,
Steve

Rule 6 is a consequence of good procedures and practice, IMO, not a goal in itself.
