| Bit behind on this one but try some holes in top of hood which will help if any air gets in hood , if it doesnt then no problem. |

| I use an Ocean Reef. I got my hood from Divers Warehouse made to order. I just asked for extra material around the face and a smooth external finish around the face so my mask seats on hood easily. I even bought a latex hood with a little bonnet thing underneath to allow my ears to equalize but it was too much of a pain to get on. I also got them to put holes in the top and sew some reflective tape over the holes (gas still escapes OK). If you get a hot soldering iron and puncture a couple of holes (shouldn't split the material like a knife would) in the top of the hood (not on any seams) you will find that trapped air in the hood easily escapes and prevents, hopefully, air pockets building up around the ears causing everything to sound very loud.

| I take it that most of you guys like a Full Face mask... I realise there are some occasions where they aren't that suitable... but for most rec dives I love mine to bits... I think they are superb bits of kit... Why do you think they aren't all that popular...?

I would say it's mostly fear of the unknown. Most people who I know that used one have then bought one or intend to buy one. My half mask of choice is the Cressi super orochi and it has a tiny volume so for me the increased volume was an issue for a while but I got used to it and the comfort of having a dry face is well worth it. As with all kit they have there pros and cons and this is something that the individual has to look at before making the decission. |

1. I do feel a bit more remote from the dive experience. 2. They are much more finicky to put on / I can't do with gloved hands 3. They don't lend themselves easily to multi gas diving / I have a gas switch and incorrect plumming and poor understanding in my early FFM days nearly killed me. 4. They are expensive.
