Full Face Mask and Hood ?

I'm looking for advice on how to wear a hood with an Interspiro Divator II, without the hood becoming a liftbag ?
All ideas welcome.

i have a ND hood which has a very smooth (silver) coating on the inside.
i turn the hood inside out & get a good seal.
sometimes i just use a standard neoprene hood which isnt as good for sealing.
the downside is you can't hear communications (if you have them fitted) because of the bubble leak noise.

as for your hood becoming a lift bag?? a tighter hood perhaps, the air pressure shouldnt blow the hood that much.
puncture some very (small) holes in the top of the hood.

I have only been trying it out in the pool with the mask skirt over the hood and it was ok except for the noise of tha air escaping (I couldn't stick that for the lenght of a dive) My hood didn't inflate but I have mates who have had that problem. Some have trimmed there hoods to the size of the mask but I don't fancy the idea of that.

if you pull the straps too tight it kinks the side of the mask (near the ear area), thus creating space for the air/gas to escape = noise in your ear.
try putting it on very gently, making small, even amendments to the straps until the bubble noise stops.
it should stop.

I use an Everflex Hood by Scubapro, and have trimmed it to the shape of the mask.... never had a problem.

i would concentrate on getting a good seal on your face and get a hood to fit over the seal of the mask there is no benefit to leaking air in to your hood and the gas req. for these masks are bad due to positive pressure so you dot want to waste it filling up your hood

There are 2 versions of the reg on this mask, Positive Pressure and normal demand. I have had both, the normal demand type I have found to be more suited to SCUBA.. I get a good seal on my face and never have a problem with air escaping into my hood.

Are you using the grey rubber type or the silicone mask, they do fit slightly differently......

or are you using a PP regulator...?

Just an update on the hood.
I got a hood from Northern Diver, think it's called a skin, it's smooth inside and smoothe on the outside around the face.
The opening for the face is quite small so a lot of your face is covered, the mask then seals to the smooth skin on the outside of the hood and no air escapes.
It is just a matter of pulling the mask on and tightening the straps, no messing about trying to move the hood over the seal etc. I would recomend it to any FFM user.

how about.

1. put on hood.
2. roll hood around neck keeping the hed exposed.
3. put o the FFM.
4. Roll up hood .

Wear rhe mask spider under the hood ...... cleaner / tidier / GUE - DIR friendly as you have no strap to get caught up
