Its a steel 10 and neither tank has regs on. The steel weighes less than 1/2lb in fresh water and it floats totaly in salt water. The Ali weighs a smidge over 3lb in fresh water

what kind of 50% fills were you putting in the ali80, 160 dir bar, or 300 chasey bar?

Ponds not deep enough for the tank to stand up. Even with no reg on they all float kneck down.

It salt water an empty 10 will float and support the weight of a my reg.

Ask Digger as I demoed this for him on deco once by uncliping the tank and letting it float in front of me.


The Ali 80 has 230 bar of 50% in the Steel 10 250bar of 18/45

Can someone reprise positive buoyancy, negative buoyancy and neutral buoyancy and their relevance to the word float from an Open Water manual they have handy?

I seem to recall the phrases meaning different things to what this thread is suggesting
