Maybe I've missed the point a bit here........but rebreather or no rebreather you're still going to want to replace the nitrogen and oxygen with another gas for the deep dives.

You do, but it doesn't get wasted on exhalation with a rebreather.

Copper has been going to run out in the next five years all my life.
What happens is the price goes up and more reserves become economical to exploit.

Just like they knew there was oil under the North Sea but, until the Arabs got greedy and jacked the price up, nobody was mad enough to think about drilling for it.

Yeah aparently according to an adition of Nationwide in the 70's Ramond Baxtor said Oil would run out by 2000.

Much more importantly, Helium is going to get considerably more expensive than it is now.
