Aqua signal tec smb usless?

Hello Again,

I have an Aqua Signal Tec SMB. About 4 foot, yellow. The width is about 6 inches but the opening is only 3-4 inches (When flat). This means the open diameter is only about 2-3 inches.
This small opening makes it impossible to inflate orally or with a reg.

Is there a trick to filling this or is it a very bad design from a good company?

I had to buy another smb as it is so useless. See previous post about lift bag valve.

My nice long Zeagle is about 5" wide and the actual passageway through the seals no more than 1"
It has a LP inflation thing-a-mi-wotsit but it can also be successfully inflated with a regulator. I know 'cos I've done it.
However, with it being so narrow with a tight air access, in a current the bag bends and easily constricts the passageway

I suspect that may be the problem you're having and if you can just get a wee bit in to hold it slightly erect you should be able to continue adding gas just fine

The small diameter I mentioned is not for the seal inside but the actual opening at the bottom of the bag.

Get yourself one of the small inflator guns and tie it with a bit of bungy to your suit inflator.

The you will be able to fill the SMB you have by poping off your Drysuit hose and clip in the inflator nozzle, as the nozzle is small you will inflate the smb like a breeze and not risk a free flow from your reg in cold water.
