| Coke is a diuretic, as is tea and coffee. As such, don't rely on it to keep you properly hyfrated. If you don't want to drink water, try one of the zillions of other drinks (soemthign like ffuit shoot, capri-sun, lucozade) which are. allegedly, better fot hydration purposes than coke.

| I *think* that caffene is a diuretic, also if you drink a lot of sugar then it works a bit like salt, you body uses fluid to flush it away. If you don't like plain water, what about apple juice?

| right, fizzy drinks before a dive not a good idea bubbles expanding etc as you ascend reverse block sort of problems. the diuretic properties of coke after a dive are negligible compared with not drinking anything. I hate still water so after a dive i try and drink fizzy water, but before diving its always still drinks. my 2c worth

My personal choices are green tea (lower in caffeine), water, orange squash (full fat type, I don't do artificial sweeteners) or apple juice, depending on times of year.
