Wing - How to adjust harness

Hi

I am new to a wing and looking to set it up so that it fits well enough to be just about comfortable.

I have a CD TDB Wing, but the webbing is still as set by CD, I do know that there is a certain amount of adjusting to get things right, but how much,

what am i looking for when i adjust the harness,
where should i be aiming to get the SS Back Plate
Where should the quick release clips come in relation to the length of the webbing over the shoulder, for instance.

I do know there are a few thoughts, but at the moment the one i am lookign to use is to lock off or remove the right side quick release. I am not looking to get into a debate about dir or non dir at this time,as i dont know enough, yet.

I have a look around on the net for advice etc, but other than how to thread the webbing etc, i have found no clear words of wisdom.

If any body can help, on this i would be grateful

Thanks

Hello Scubees
Welcome to YD - whats the betting that people get us confused - they can be a simple bunch .

I don't have a link, there was a thread on here a couple of weeks ago about getting the harness adjusted. Mark Powell also did an article in one of the diving magazines about where it ought to be.

I have joined the simple bunch as I thought "oh you have lost your cat avatar" and then thought "mmmm I am sure you was wearing a wing when we dived at ST Abbs". Mystery solved.

Welcome to YD Scubees. What ever you do please do not get a cat avatar!

Hi

Thanks for the welcome

Soz Scubee, i will try and come up with a fitting Avatar save on the confusion

I have seen one or two bits on threading a harness, but not convinced from my point that they are what i am after.

I am more aimed at how to get it adjusted right, but anyway, if i missed that then just call me homer.

Talking

Nearly fooled me also!

I have borrowed the said set up from a mate of mine and as yet I've only altered the harness slightly in order to fit better. The one thing I did do was to have in place a chest strap as I found the right side strap buckle dug into the front of my shoulder too much.

The chest strap is not permanent (it was a strap from my old pony set up, but works perfectly well), but if your set up hasn't one, I'd consider this option.

Good luck anyway.
