I think it deserves it anywhere. The physics stays the same, it's the psychology that differs. (And a degree of task loading.)

Sure, but if it's your only option? By the way, it works from 30m. I tried it once.

Thank you Mark. Mal, if all else failed and I had to get myself out of there I don't think I'd be too worried about what my PADI standards say

I bet most divers with a couple of years experience consider 15m a shallow dive but when I told them this at Whips Cross i was informed that in Hyperbaric terms anything past 6m is considered a deep dive.
I agree with Mark (and many others who have posted in a similar vein)

I consider anything less that about 35 metres to be "shallow" but that doesn't mean that you should be complacent as that is the very thing that leads to your downfall.

I managed to do my first sea dive of the year yesterday after having 7 days blown out. The depth was just over 60 metres (we had planned a wreck at 71 metres but due to problems we had to change our plans). Bottom time was 31 minutes with a run time of 97 minutes. But as it was the first sea dive of the year I was more than aware that things were not quite as they should be. (Including a cell failure)

If it's your only option then it's your only option .... though I prefer the EBA (not sure what everyone else calls it but with SSI it's called an emergency buoyant ascent) technique....at least your buddies get to sell your kit on eBay.

It does sound a bit wrong to be discussing these largely outrageous self rescue techniques in a thread which, to me, seemed to be promoting caution about depth, though.

A "prevention is better than cure" mindset to which I fully subscribe.

There are so many things that need to go wrong before you get to the point of needing to bolt for the surface I think.

Son, you're going to have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming aircrew. You can't do both.

The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits.

We do have new technology which means you don't have to use wires for a phone call However, I do think I have your number in my mobile if need be
